Dale Moore
Dr. Moore’s expertise lies in preventive veterinary medicine and risk communication. Her research seeks new disease-prevention strategies for farms and ranches. She is working to develop alternatives to antibiotic use in calf-rearing and is validating biosecurity recommendations on dairy farms to prevent foreign and endemic animal diseases.
Dr. Moore has also conducted extensive research on educational assessments, including needs assessments and educational program evaluation methods. She has studied food-animal epidemiology, focusing on management and methods to improve profit, as well as performance and health of food animals in large livestock operations.
In addition to her role as a clinical professor in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences and in the School for Global Animal Health, Dr. Moore serves as Director of Veterinary Medicine Extension, leading programs to advance agricultural animal health. She develops educational materials and offers disaster-preparedness guidance to food-animal producers, veterinarians, and communities to prepare them to manage foreign animal disease outbreaks.
Dr. Moore’s background includes working for the National Center for Foreign Animal and Zoonotic Disease Defense. She is a Certified Trainer in Agroterrorism Preparedness for the Western Institute for Food Safety and Security.
