Research building
The largest single private commitment in University history will help enable construction of the $35 million flagship research building for the new School for Global Animal Health.
Phase one
To be constructed in part with the help of a $25 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the building will provide modern research space on the Pullman campus to support global animal health research (not animal testing). It will represent the transformative first phase in a capital plan for the School for Global Animal Health.
Key features of the facility:
- Approximately 20,000 square feet of laboratories, office space and meeting rooms for 12-15 research scientists and their support staff and graduate students.
- A state-of-the-art infectious disease research facility that has been designed and equipped to meet today’s standards for investigating emerging diseases.
Long-term plans
In addition to the main research building, the capital plan includes development of high-level biosecurity laboratory space for surveillance and test development for diseases such as avian flu and BSE.
