Animal Health Policy & Metrics
The first of its kind in the nation, this interdisciplinary program will aim to educate the next generation of leaders in animal health to develop and implement effective science-based policy.
A multidisciplinary curriculum
The program will integrate the biologic context of animal health with the economic, political, and social parameters that inform and influence animal health policy at the regional, national, and international levels.
- Professors-in-residence. Brings leaders in global animal health policy to Washington State University.
- Experiential training. Provides hands-on training in policy development at the state, national, and international levels.
- Integrative curricula development. Spans the disciplines to build an essential foundation for creating animal health policy.
- Policy formulation and implementation. Supplements students' in-residence program with relevant experience in formulating and implementing global animal health policy.
Short Term Training for Working Professionals
The short term training program provides specific training in laboratory diagnostics and surveillance for working professionals in African animal health institutions. This program is targeted for those working in sub-Saharan Africa. Going forward we will continue to support the training of working professionals by development and mentoring of on-line programs as well as providing specific and individualized training to our partners in the east Africa program. In doing so, we will use the "train the trainer" approach to ensure long-term sustainability.
