Dr. Lin is actively working on bioanalytical chemistry, nanomedicine and nanobiotechnology.

His research is focused on:

  • Development of new biosensors and new technology for biomarker validation and detection for acute and chronic diseases.
  • Synthesis of functional nanomaterials for bioimaging and drug delivery.
  • Development of portable bioanalytical systems based on lab-on-chip, paper-based nanobiosensors for point-of-care, food safety, and global health applications.

Dr. Lin has been working at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory since 1997. He joined WSU in 2013 as a professor at School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering and in the Paul G. Allen School for Global Animal Health. His research has been funded by NIH, CDC, DOE, and DOD and has resulted in ~ 300 publications with a total citation about 16,000 and h-index 70. He is currently a fellow of AAAS, Royal Society of Chemistry, and American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering. Dr. Lin is the editor of the Handbook of Electrochemical Nanotechnology and the section editor of the Encyclopedia of Microfluidics and Nanofluidics. He also serves as the North American Editor for the Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, editor of Molecular Imaging, and Member of Editorial Advisory Board of other 20 international journals. Dr. Lin has over 10 patents. Half of the patents have been licensed to industrial partners for commercialization. He obtained three Battelle Key Contributor Awards for technology commercialization.
