Dr. Maria Galletti is a research scientist at the University of São Paulo in Brazil working in tick and pathogen interaction.
Her research is primarily in:
- Amblyomma ticks and the Brazilian strain of Rickettsia rickettsii, the agent of Rocky Mountain spotted fever.
- Brazil, which is considered an endemic area for the disease.
- Defining targets for a future vaccine development through global high-throughput transcriptomes and functional studies using in vivo and in vitro models.
